A sensory journey through the gardens, art and life of famed Brazilian Modernist landscape architect, painter and ecologist Roberto Burle Marx, based on his personal diaries. An icon of modernist design, Burle Marx has over 50 plants named in his honor and was one of the first voices to call for the conservation of Brazil’s rainforests.
Our show opens with a live music set by Choro da Alegria! Choro da Alegria (choro of happiness) is a Portland-based ensemble dedicated to playing the wonderful melodies of Brazil. Choro features samba rhythms, jazzy chords and fast tempos. Beyond choro the group enjoys performing classics tunes from Bossa Nova and MPB .
