The Portland EcoFilm Festival at the Hollywood Theatre features films about the environment, nature conservation, outdoor adventure, agriculture, and community wellness. Most screenings include a filmmaker Q&A or a panel discussion with local experts designed to engage audience participation and environmental conservation. We host an annual four-day film festival each fall, an Earth Day Film Weekend each spring and year-round film screenings.
The Portland EcoFilm Festival is produced by the Hollywood Theatre, a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to entertain, inspire, educate and connect the community through the art of film, while preserving a historic Portland landmark.
Operating from a beautiful 1926 movie palace, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Hollywood Theatre has today earned a national reputation for its unique combination of award-winning film programming, innovative educational programs, and support and fiscal sponsorship for local filmmakers. The Theatre has been honored by the Sundance Institute and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for its contributions to the film community.
