DECEMBER, 2025: We are excited to share with you the program for our 2026 festival, featuring many of the best new environmental, Indigenous, and place-based films from around the living world, as well as a handful of special presentations.
Our 13th festival will happen from March through May at the Hollywood Theatre, Cinema 21, and the Clinton Street Theater. We are honored to expand our presence more fully into Portland’s thriving ecosystem of independent cinemas. We remain a signature program of the Hollywood Theatre.
Our 2026 festival is sponsored by Crag Law Center and SOLVE.
It’s a big year at the Portland EcoFilm Festival.
In addition to screening dozens of excellent ecological films, we are:
Producing our first-of-its-kind Global Ecological Cinema podcast, which will feature nuanced conversations with filmmakers about fascinating intersections of ecology and cinema. It will premiere in February, 2026 and be available here on our website and on all major platforms.
Becoming the first film festival to host our own free, for-credit eco-humanities course in collaboration with Bard College and the Clemente Course in the Humanities.
Initiating audience awards for Best Feature and Best Short Film, empowering festival audiences to uplift ecological films and filmmakers in a new and exciting way
